Cycling Events and Challenges

15 Aug 2016

It’s that time of year again to dust off your bike and get active in these upcoming Cycling Events.

Here are some details of each event – which will you choose?

Love to Ride

Love to Ride, The National Cycle Challenge, is back this year during September offering a fun, free competition to encourage you and your colleagues to experience first-hand the joys and benefits of riding a bike. As in previous years, there will be lots of fantastic prizes on offer to encourage you and your team.

It’s completely free to register and all you need to do is get on your bike for just 10 minutes or more to participate – it’s that simple!

For those new to this event this year there are some Connecting Wiltshire goody bags to give away containing some cycling accessories to get you on your way as well as spot prizes to individuals that do well.

For more details on how you can get involved and be in with a chance of winning, visit: Love to Ride

 Cycle to Work Day

The Cycle to Work Day takes place on 14th September 2016 and aims to encourage everyone to use two wheels instead of four and cycle to work for the day.  Statistics show that the UK are getting more active on their bikes and using them to commute to work on a regular basis. But with the Cycle to Work Day it is hoped to get even more people travelling this way.

Cycle to Work Day also enjoys unilateral support from cycling advocacy groups such as British Cycling, Sustrans, the London Cycling Campaign, Cyclescheme, Cyclescheme Ireland the Bicycle Association, CTC – the national cycling charity, and Cycle Nation.

There are 3 new bikes to be won and those who register to take part will also receive exclusive discounts from some top cycling brands.

Visit Cycle to Work Day for details on how to register and pledge your miles cycled.

Cycle Wiltshire – PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF NUMBERS

Cycle Wiltshire Sportive returns on 2nd October 2016 in Salisbury at the Five Rivers Community Campus. With a choice of 3 different routes to suit all types of cyclists, all routes are risk assessed with directional signage, chip timing, food stops and mechanical support throughout.  It’s a great way to get out and explore the wonderful county of Wiltshire and if you’ve taken part before, why not try a more challenging route?

A goody bag with a medal and a snack to finish are included in the price of entry.

Go to Cycle Wiltshire for more information.

And don’t forget, if last year’s challenge has got you on your bike more often, please let us know.
