You can share a car for any journey

Please note:  The government, in consultation with industry, has produced guidance to help ensure commuters and workplaces are as safe as possible when car sharing during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

It recommends a vehicle is well ventilated through the use of a ventilation system or opening windows, and that you wear a face covering when travelling in a private vehicle with people you do not usually meet, and you wash your hands, or sanitise, when exiting or re-entering the vehicle.

You must not travel if you have been told by the NHS Test and Trace service to self-isolate, are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, even if mild, or are self-isolating.

Car sharing is when two or more people share a car and travel together. This might be on a daily basis to and from work or college, once or twice a week to the sports centre, on a regular Saturday basis for shopping trips, or one-off trips to festivals, events, or to visit friends.

You can cut your fuel bill in half or even more by car sharing. It allows people to benefit from the convenience of the car, whilst alleviating the associated problems of congestion and pollution.

Car Share Wiltshire is open to everyone, it is supported by Wiltshire Council. Over 3,300 Wiltshire residents and workers have joined, and combined with the thousands of other people who are part of the ‘Liftshare.com’ network across the South West, your chances of finding a car share partner to drive or be driven by has never been greater.

Car sharing can save both employers and employees time and money as well as having health, environmental and social benefits. Staff can either sign up to www.carsharewiltshire.com public group or alternatively organisations can choose to set up their own private group for their staff only.  Find out more in our Wiltshire-Business-Engagement-Mag

Private car share groups

Schools, colleges, businesses and even voluntary organisations can organise private groups on Car Share Wiltshire. These allow you to find matches only with people who work or study at your organisation.

Please note: The site ‘www.wiltshirecarshare.com’ is not run or approved by Wiltshire Council. This site charges for using their service.
