Although less populated that the west side of Wiltshire, the X5, linking Salisbury with Swindon, runs through a scenic and interesting side of the county.

From the cathedral city of Salisbury, north to Amesbury, then skirting Salisbury Plain to the west, the X5 runs along the valley of the Salisbury Avon (a chalk stream), through Pewsey, over the Kennet & Avon Canal to Marlborough and on across the North Wessex Downs to reach Swindon.

Travel end-to-end, stop off along the way, or head for a specific location and explore, the choice is yours. With buses every hour Mondays to Saturdays, it’s possible to hop-off one, have a look around and board the next bus to continue your journey.

Most journeys are run with double deck buses, offering grandstand views across Wiltshire from comfortable seats. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

With all single fares £3 or less, now is a great time to explore Wiltshire.

And for the more adventurous, the Wiltshire Day Rover gives you travel all day, on every bus in Wiltshire and into Swindon. Buy it from the driver of the first bus you catch, then just show it to the driver on all the other buses you use.

The £3 fare cap and many bus service timetable enhancements in Wiltshire, including extra journeys on the X5 are funded by UK Government.
